WVU Extension Service – Hancock County

The Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance program is called upon in a variety of situation from trails to promoting outdoor recreation for youth. There is not project too small or too big for the program. One project that comes to mind involves a county attempting to highlight their outdoor recreation opportunities along their river front. They wanted to work with neighboring counties to coordinate their efforts, organize community feedback across multiple counties, and build on existing opportunities. RTCA helped them build stronger relationships with multiple organizations in the area, designed the community feedback tools, and brought new ideas to age-old challenges. All of these outcomes focused on community priorities and goals. RTCA simply provides an extra hand, an extra head, and a lot of energy to get projects done.
